With the lockdown now lifted in Dubai, we wanted to catch-up with some of our Good Salon Guide UAE salon owners to see how they are dealing with salon life after lockdown. Here, Emma-Louise Morgan, founder of Ted Morgan Hair, Dubai spoke to us on what she did in-salon when it came to implementing health and safety…

一次we received the circular guidelines from the Dubai Authorities, we made arrangements for a company to come into the salon and deep clean and sanitize the entire space. We can only use cleaning products which have been approved by Dubai Municipality.

Restrictions dictate that we can only operate with 30% of staff. On a normal day we would have all 9 Stylists working, but we are now limited to only having 3 Stylists each day with 3 assistants - and one of those takes charge of salon sanitisation throughout the day.

We have removed 10 of the 18 chairs in our salon so that the staff and clients are distanced correctly and signage is placed on every other backwash seat to ensure clients do not sit there to keep the recommended distance between them.

所有零售货架上被移除的体育r Dubai Municipality guidelines to avoid clients touching any retail products, so I made the decision just to remove it and make it easier for cleaning and sanitization of the area. Posters are displayed at the entrance door of the salon advising clients that we are operating under strict hygiene and cleanliness including floor stickers to ensure the reception area is not crowded.

We are only allowed to accept clients into the salon that have booked appointments. No walk-in clients can be accommodated. Our reception ensures that all clients sanitize their hands upon entering and their temperature is also taken. This procedure applies to every employee too. Our team are wearing disposable gloves, aprons and facemasks and we use disposable towels in the salon.

We had an inspection today by Dubai Municipality and passed with flying colours. We were commended for the additional measures we had taken in the salon and the inspector was delighted with how we are currently operating the business.
